To do God’s work, a man must be led of God. Since it is God's work, it is ultimately God who chooses His laborers. The initiative lies with God, not with man. He does not look for volunteers. No doubt He desires willing men, but the Originator of all divine work is God Himself. In fact, He conscripts His servants, as we find in the calling of Moses (Exod. 3:10-12), Jeremiah (Jer. 1:4-19), and the apostle Paul (Gal. 1:15), to name just a few examples.
Similarly, there is an internal call given of the Holy Spirit to some men to reach the unchurched. “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ” (Eph. 4:11-12). Those who experience this Spirit-led desire primarily to preach at home and abroad can satisfy this desire as a FirstLove Missions (FLM) missionary in four specific ways:
participating in short-term missions;
engaging in evangelism efforts (street preaching, personal witnessing, discipleship, mentoring, etc.);
since we are a faith ministry, we prohibit solicitation of finances in order to be freed to engage in the work of evangelism.
When we accept short-terms missionaries into our ministry to be part of the FLM missions team, we expect them to focus exclusively on the proclamation of the gospel, equipping the church, and developing the saints for the propagation of the gospel.
